The February Chapter Meeting will be held on Thursday, February 15 at 5:30 PM at Pietro’s Restaurant (3801 Watson Road). The February meeting will be our annual Student Presentation Night. Local students will share short presentations. Cost will be $30 per member, $40 for non-members, $10 for students and those between jobs. Please RSVP at https://www.aegstl.org/monthly-section-meetings/ by Wednesday, February 14, 2018.
Students are invited to prepare a short 5- to 10-minute presentation on any topic of their choosing that is related to environmental or engineering geology. This may include personal interest or research, an assigned study project, results of a field-camp experience, internship assignment, or related topic. The presentations will be judged on basic science, project protocol, and communication skills. All non-students present will vote on the best presentation, and a small honorarium award will be given to the winner.
Depending on how many students present that evening, there may be time for similar, short presentations by other AEG members and guests. You are invited to prepare your own 5- to 10-minute presentation on a topic of your choice. These topics could include overviews of historic engineering projects; promising new techniques, software, or hardware; a challenging project dilemma; geopolitical topics relevant to our professional community; project overviews; and don’t-let-this-happen-to-you horror stories.
If you are interested in sharing a presentation at the February meeting, contact Phyllis Steckel ([email protected]) by Thursday, February 8, 2018.
